Hearing speech in noise remains the #1 challenge for people with hearing loss. Noise impacts a person’s cognitive abilities, because the brain needs to work harder to understand what is going on. Oticon Intent 1 provides a significant reduction in sustained listening effort as shown by a 31% relative reduction in mean pupil size2 when following speech in a complex listening environment.
Dealing with loud noise and struggling to follow speech in noisy environments can cause our heart rate to increase.4 This is called listening stress. Even short periods of stress can have a negative impact on our cognitive abilities – reducing our ability to engage in conversation.5 Even in the most stressful listening situation, Oticon Intent instantly reacts to the user’s needs and provides the optimal level of support. As the world’s first hearing aid proven to reduce listening stress – Oticon Intent 1 provides a reduction in listening stress2 as shown by a 40% reduction in mean heart rate compared to our best previous hearing aid.

We put Oticon Intent’s 4D Sensor technology to the test by using virtual reality technology to reconstruct challenging listening environments to better understanding its capabilities. 4D Sensor technology outperformed expectations and was proven to deliver exceptional speech comprehension6 with a relative improvement of 15% compared to when the 4D Sensor technology was switched off.

We put Oticon Intent 1 to the test in a clinical EEG study to investigate how 4D Sensor technology^ helps the brain balance sounds of interest.
The study clearly showed that Oticon Intent enables significantly higher attention to environmental sounds while active, than during a more intimate conversation. And this was achieved without compromising the brain’s attention to speech – regardless of listening intention.6
Hearing aid users were asked to evaluate the sound quality of Oticon Intent 1 compared to our previous premium hearing aid in different sound environments. Oticon Intent 1 ranked significantly higher than our previous premium hearing aid7 and hearing aid users experienced improvements both in areas where speech was important and in areas where awareness of surrounding sound was prioritised.6
